Well…I thought that the qualification race in this terrain was going to be hard. However as it turns out the navigation was that hard at all and it turned out to be all track running. I was way to over cautious and approached the race accordingly. I think I really needed to run the race at a much greater intensity. Its really hard to know how to approach this kind of race from the other side of the world as all the top nations have raced in similar terrain before.

Anyway I learned heaps and more about how to approach a race rather than how to orienteer.

I finished 21st in my heat out of about 40 people so a better result than last year but a bit disappointing once again. The two big route choices where I took over cautious routes are where I lost the time that would have got me into the final. Oh well…next year will be around soon enough.

All three girls Qualified and Chris made it in in 15th place…leaving Ross and Myself just outside the top 15th qualifiers in each heat.
